1968-BS, Commerce and Finance; Wilkes College, Wilkes- Barre, PA.

WORK EXPERIENCE:

1968-1988:
Various supervisory jobs, Carpenter Technology Corp, Reading, PA. . Was an Industrial Engineer doing incentive and job description assignments; Spent 3 years as a Production Foreman doing shift work in the actual manufacturing of these stainless and specialty alloy steels. Spent 4 years as Manager, Production Planning, responsible for inputting all customer and branch orders, scheduling of all melting, forging, and hot rolling of these orders, After 4 years as a Production Manager in the Hot Rolling Department, I left in 1988 to open my first three of five businesses.

1988-1998:
I purchased a 5,000 square foot building and opened the following 3 businesses under the corporate name of Clean, Inc.

  • COUNTRY FRESH LAUNDRY : A coin-op laundry picked as one of the top 10 best in the USA in 1989.
  • THE AUTO CLEANING COURT : An upscale vehicle detailing operation doing over 1200 cars, boats, airplane, etc annually. Did work for local auto dealers and personal clients, including a 65-foot rig for Conrail Rail Company and various aircraft.
  • LEASING DIVISION : Since 1988, portion of building leased to a large dry cleaning chain.

1998-2004:

  • GOURMET CORNER : A gourmet food and delicatessen store opened in 1998 offering the finest in specialty meats, salads, deserts, and other delicacies. We also did catering for small gatherings and parties.
  • PENN SQUARE HALLMARK CARD AND GIFT SHOP : Built an 1800 square foot Hallmark store in downtown Reading, PA. It was in 2005 that I left Pennsylvania and moved to Florida to start a new career.

June 2005 to May 2007
I was the Route, Business Development, and Customer Service Manager for a large dry cleaning company. I was responsible for the operation of all 4 store locations, employee hiring/discharging of 20 employees, all 4000 customer situations, and maintenance and daily operation and building of route (home pick up and delivery) of clients clothing. I had built that portion of the business from 80 clients to the current of over 300 people. Was also responsible for maintenance of 3 company vehicles, all computer systems, including installation of new computer system in Spring 2006 in 3 locations, and all day–to-day operations of this company.
This company was started and currently owned by my brother since 1983.

I am a Vietnam combat veteran having served on active duty from February 1969 to February 1972. I served one tour of duty in Southeast Asia from 1969 to1970.

CONCLUSION:
I have been a resident of Florida for 5 years and have owned and operated my own 5 businesses for 19 years.

I have always been active in civic and charitable affairs. Since coming to Vero Beach in June, 2005 I have become active in the Chamber of Commerce, currently a Chamber Ambassador, Indian River Corvette Club, Treasurer, Vero Beach Rotary Club, Singles Ministry of Community UCC Church, Navy League, Community Involvement Officer. Have also volunteered at Teen Challenge on Saturdays. I have done volunteer work for Habitat for Humanity through the Vero Beach Rotary Club, mentoring for the Boy's and Girl's Club of Indian River County,  volunteer work for the Salvation Army, and am currently a Deacon in my UCC Church.
